Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Civano, Province of Como, Aquila d'Oro Osteria Enoteca Bar di Bossio Plinio stands as a beacon of culinary delight and local charm. This restaurant, a short drive from the bustling town of Como, offers a unique escape into the mountains, where the warmth of its inviting atmosphere combines seamlessly with an impressive menu that celebrates local flavors.
Upon entering Aquila d'Oro, guests are greeted by a cozy ambiance that feels both relaxed and intimate. The restaurant is a gathering place for locals, making it a true hidden gem for those willing to wander off the beaten path. As David Weber aptly describes, the atmosphere here is "warm and inviting," making it the ideal setting to enjoy a memorable meal.
One cannot visit without indulging in their standout dishes. A highlight from the menu, as mentioned by Paloma Serrano, includes the enticing starter of cheese accompanied by salumi—perfectly complemented with nice bread, peach chutney, and a delightful selection of cheeses. The local sausage paired with polenta is another must-try, showcasing the authentic flavors of the region. However, it’s essential to note that some dishes, like the fresh pasta with porcini and mirtilli, may not always hit the mark, as the balance of flavor can vary. It seems a dash of adaptation could enhance these offerings.
In true Italian fashion, Aquila d'Oro does not skimp on its wine selection. Guests can relish a diverse array of wines that beautifully pair with the local cuisine, as aptly pointed out by Jonathan Freitag. The combination of high-standard cooking and carefully selected wines makes for an exceptionally gratifying dining experience.
A standout dessert that has garnered praise is the innovative beer tiramisu, which encapsulates the restaurant's creative flair. The chefs are young and passionate, bringing fresh perspectives to classic Italian dishes. The attention to detail is palpable, from the ingredients sourced locally to the authentic preparation methods utilized.
For those looking to explore the culinary delights of the mountains, Aquila d'Oro is more than just a restaurant; it's a journey into the heart of local culture and flavors. Rob Page's review succinctly captures this sentiment, urging others to "please go visit" and experience the stunning, home-cooked meals prepared with love and dedication.
So, make the drive to this culinary haven in Civano. Allow yourself to be enveloped by the picturesque scenery and the warm hospitality of Aquila d'Oro Osteria Enoteca Bar di Bossio Plinio. It promises an experience that’s not just about food, but about savoring every moment at the table.

Beautiful restaurant on the mountain, seemed delicious by reviews and local people. Starter cheese with salumi was amazing, nice bread, nice selection of cheese, peach, chutney and the salumi were nice. I got the sausage and polenta was amazing. My husband had the fresh pasta with porcini and mirtilli was small portion and not much flavor, mirtilli were frozen. My mom had the "elephant ear with purple potatoes, was very dry and the potatoes were also very dry. We had to ask for a tomato to make the meal a bit fresh. Maybe it should be like that but we didn't enjoy it much as it was a plate too dry. My husband is italian he said the same. Wine was nice, not expensive, we didn't get dessert but the pear grappa was nice. Place was beautiful In the mountains.

What a cool place. Clearly just got the locals. It's up the mountain, away from everything, built into the hillside in a remote residential area. It's not fancy for atmosphere - the locals were in jeans and hoodies. The food however is fantastic. Large wine list, good size menu. Everything we had was great. It was empty early in the evening but by 8pm had filled in. I would recommend this place to people who like to explore off the beaten path and have a car.

A place run by a young cook and a young sommelière - and you can clearly feel that. The menu was very good and well arranged and the wines fit the dishes in a very good way. They are matching local cuisine with high standards cooking and nice wines. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Recommendation for people who like local food, good wines and not looking for discount food. Support your local young gastro people! And the cat was so cute…
